Healthy Meal suggestions for Outback Steakhouse

I can't even cite the reasons I was craving Outback Steakhouse last week, but l convinced my boyfriend to go with me for dinner. Being new to the area, we looked up Outback on the GPS and found this location. We arrived for dinner at about 6:45. It was essentially an average trip to Outback; being in a restaurant management program, I just enjoy visiting restaurants to observe their different concepts, themes, and atmospheres. A few things happened to Make this trip incredibly memorable, some good, some not so good. Firstly, our appetizer was only sent out as a half order initially, and it still took a while after we were assured it was on the way. We also got our complimentary bread (typically served before the meal) with our entree. HOWEVER, I paid 8.99 for unlimited shrimp and every single shrimp was delicious a perfectly cooked. Once we received our entire appetizer, it was also deliscious. Basically, customer service and accuracy need work, but the food and food quality were spot on. Absolutely willing to give it another try.

The food was good but the service was as SLOW as a snail. My daughter and I went there for lunch. The staff far outnumbered the patrons since it was early into lunch. I counted 4 manager/host/hostess types up front and a whole army of servers running around. I figured we'd get superstar service given the ratio of staff to customers. Wrong! Our burgers took so long to come out, they were practically dead. The lettuce was wilted, the burger juices were all congealed, and the American Cheese looked like it was shrink wrapped to the meat. Obviously, too long in the window under the heat lamps. But they tasted good. Too bad they weren't out faster. We asked for extra ketchup and proceeded to watch our server get a soda for herself, take an order from another table....and finally...brought us our stupid ketchup. I generally like Outback Steakhouse but I probably won't go back to this one. -Daddy Maxx Retro

I'm only giving it 3 stars because of past experiences were solid. However I was there Sat. 8/15/15, sat at a booth in the bar at 3pm, oddly the bartender also serves some of the tables in the bar area, he was an average bartender, and struggled with every table he had as he also has to make drinks for all the servers. I blame either Outback or the manager, whichever one makes the decision to have a bartender also try to wait on at least 6 tables at 1 time, all while running the bar also, it was ridiculous to watch. There are a lot options in this area and reading other reviews service is an issue at this location, but after seeing this I believe it could be more about management.

Poor service, hit or miss food, and mostly miss! I try to avoid chains, but we got a gift card, so we gave it a try. First, the craft beer selection was pathetic. Two choices, and both were Belgian Whites - I mean please, why carry two of the same if you only carry two! Wife ordered one, and was told (later) they stopped carrying it. She also ordered it with a slice of orange, but it came with no glass, and no orange. I opted for water, which I ordered with no ice, so it of course came with ice. Tried the Ahi Tuna appetizer. Good sauce and slaw, but the tuna was pathetic. It was cold, having clearly been seared ahead of time then refrigerated. My Caesar salad was also pretty weak. Steaks were better, with my Ribeye (Med Rare, Wood Fired) being much better than my wife's Sirloin. However, my mixed veggie side was forgotten, and then when it came the carrots were basically raw. Unless I get another gift card, I won't be back, and maybe not even then. I think I'd rather sell it. :)

I had a mediocre experience here. My family and I went on a Saturday night so they were understandably busy. We didn't get seated until a half hour after our reservation, but they did give us steak samples during our wait. Our server seemed annoyed with us all night. Food was decent. I do not recommend the bleu cheese salad unless you REALLY like bleu cheese, very strong. The fillet was grilled perfectly medium rare. Overall the experience was not worth the mid to high price of the food.

We were Outback supporters for years. We found an Outback wherever we moved and always moved it to the top of our restaurant rotation. Great food and friendly service. I miss those days. Then we visited the location in Coon Rapids and we've never been back. My wife found a LARGE CLUMP OF HAIR under her baked potato. Not one hair... a CLUMP OF HAIR. That's not an accident, it's a strong message to leave and never come back. And that's what we did.

I am so incredibly disappointed. I rarely go out to eat. In fact, the last time I went out to eat was 4 months ago. So, I was extremely excited not only to be going to a restaurant, but to Outback where I knew I would have a great meal. Unfortunately, this was not true. My friend and I arrived and once seated, we ordered pretty quickly. It took 10 minutes for my friend's salad to arrive. I was told my soup was still being made and would be right out. However, just as the waitress walked away from the table, another employee showed up behind her with our entrees! My steak was really yummy, but of the 6 oz, 1/3 of it was fat! The veggies were amazing! Then, my soup showed up. I didn't want it...I mean, who wants to eat their soup after they've eaten their meal? The waitress said she'd exchange the soup for dessert, so that made me happy. I'd be thinking about a piece of cheesecake ALL DAY! I asked for the cheesecake to go, so it wasn't until I got home that I found out that the slice was teeny tiny and took 3 bites to eat! If I had known, I would have paid the difference for a regular size piece. So, now I'm home, I'm hungry, still craving the meal I had been thinking about since my friend and I decided to go 4 days ago, and I'm sad :( I won't be going back to this location.

There are several problems with this chain. (1) It has nothing to do with Australia--they think "billabong" is three words, (2) the steaks are bad, (3) the service is mediocre and (4) it's expensive. That was four things, so you got a better deal on this review than you'd get at The Outhouse.

Good food, good service, good prices. Overall a well-run member of a chain. Not a bad choice at all in my book.

Everything was good but their layout. Why do restaurants insist on sitting you three feet close to the stranger next to you? Otherwise they would get 5/5

After several dinners here and many years in the service industry, I would not recommend eating at the bar, it was hard enough to get a drink and our bartender was either burnt out of his job, just didn't care or just wasn't cut out for the this type of work. With that being said, we have since found a booth in the bar area (generally there are no kids in this area) and the servers have been great. We order the same thing every time we go since we know we won't be disappointed. Seared ahi tuna to start, absolutly wonderful at a great price and the dipping sauces are so yummy. Steak for dinner, med-rare, always comes out perfect. So, if you don't want to dress up and are craving a steak without a noisey atmosphere, this is a good stop.

I like this place. The food is always good and the prices are reasonable. Service has always been good.

Very disappointed. Food was not cooked to order, service was slow, the place looks clean but hasn't had a deep cleaning in years. Would not recommend. Way better food and atmosphere just down the road. Texas Roadhouse is a couple dollars less expensive and you'll receive better food, service and a good time.

Service was good as usual however, I haven't ever ordered the wood fired steak before and that was a MISTAKE. I felt like I had a stick of wood in my mouth for hours even after I brushed my teeth. Don't get me wrong It would have been 4 stars otherwise as I like Outback, but next time I'm having it prepared the classic way. Just say no to wood!

Blooming onion good as always, woodfire sear on steak not as spicy as waitress foretold, but still good.
